During the 20th century, America endured two World Wars, recession, the Great Depression, the first resignation of an American President and even a day called “Black Monday” representing the stock market crash of October 19, 1987. The Dow Jones Industrial Average mentioned earlier dropped by 22%, as did many markets around the world. But by the year end of 1987, the Dow Jones was up 2%. America had already rebounded. John Winthrop’s “shining city upon a hill” now called the USA, has always had challenges and opportunities to fear, but we have also always had courage.
Courage in a belief that the working, the playing and the loving we do here in America, is worth fighting for. And that what we are fighting for, is possible. There are many books you can read on business and self-help, but not many of them explain the fact that the reason you can afford to dream about the future, define your own destiny, and believe in the power of hope, is because of the little experiment that “did” called the United States of America.
You can be successful, even in an economic climate that invites fear when you join a strong will with a patriotic heart. That’s the purpose of this audio presentation: to make that connection between ingenuity, patriotism and prosperity for all. To make the successes you attain mean something as you earn them and the challenges you face seem incidental, compared to your ability to face them. Keep America’s history in mind for confidence and American ideals in mind for strength.
You are the American Economy people talk about so much and will soon be part of this country’s economic turnaround, joining the greatest leaders of our history and once again defining what it means to live in the homes of the brave.
