Throughout history, Americans have exhibited examples of patriotism, ingenuity, and personal courage. These are the ideals that we must exhibit now.

America herself was an ideal before she was ever a country. In retrospect we tend to think of the Revolutionary and Civil Wars as American wars that we won (and we did). But in 1775 when the Revolutionary War began, we were not America as we know her, but instead 13 British colonies fighting for freedom. Early Patriots and future Americans filled with hope, and Personal Courage rallied behind then merely, Commander-in-Chief George Washington. They did not ask, but declared their independence historically, in 1776.

This declaration did not end the war but it did end British occupation in spirit and in principle. The war ended in fact soon after, and by 1793 Eli Whitney’s cotton gin spurred tangible economic growth. A mere century later, the United States economy more than doubled that of her former occupier.

In one precious minute highlighted here, President Franklin Roosevelt, on March 4th, 1933 spoke with confidence regarding America's promise and hope.  Whether it be business or politics America was and must remain the home of the brave.  Take a listen to see whether this inspires you in your office:

Welcome!

Welcome to this new opportunity to communicate with all of my colleagues and friends.  There are many correlations among business and personal development, economics and patriotism.  With your help I intend to explore those correlations.  In business and politics, throughout history, America has had many challenges and America has met and defeated each one of them.

Patriotism is often defined as a love of country but patriotism is truly a love of a country's people and customs.  You are businesspeople, and each of you have the opportunity to use your talent to express strength, love for family, friends and fellow citizens.

How we can all catalyze economic growth, through an understanding of history and continued professional development, will be this blog's focus.

Throughout my career I have focused on professional development and finding ways to connect those who are passionate about maximizing all of their skills.  Those skills are most needed today as we find ways once again to grow ourselves and our economy, from every desk and kitchen table in America.  Let's begin.

"All great change in America begins at the dinner table."
~ President Ronald Reagan  (In office 1981 – 1989)
