Catherine F. Schott Murray

Catherine's practice covers trust and estate planning alongside business planning: simple and complex estate plans, incapacity planning, elder law, guardianships and conservatorships, special needs trusts, estate and trust administration, probate, asset protection, and gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning.

Her charitable work spans donor-advised funds, private foundations, irrevocable trusts, family limited partnerships, and limited liability companies. Earlier in her career she handled estate and Medicaid planning and represented lenders and closely held companies in commercial transactions, lease negotiations, and mergers and acquisitions.

She has been an active member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and served more than a decade on the board of its Virginia chapter, including time as its president. She has also served on the board of the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia, including as board chair.
